The Benefits of Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic is the science, art, philosophy and understanding that the human body is a self-healing organism. When the barricades are removed and the deficiencies are corrected, restoration of health can be reached. How does it work? First you must understand that the body is made up of several different systems such as the circulatory system, respiratory system, and the digestive system, just to name a few. But there is one system that controls and coordinates every other system and organ in the body. It is called the Central Nervous System (CNS).

The CNS is made up of the brain, spinal cord, and the 31 pairs of nerves that exit from the spinal cord. These nerves are carrying electrical impulses from the brain and plugging into the organs and muscles. Provided these impulses reach the target organ without interference, the organ can function normally. Because the CNS is so important, it has protection around it. The brain is protected by the skull and the spinal cord is protected by the 24 movable segments of the spine. And while our spines are mobile and flexible, stressors such as physical traumas due to accidents, slips and falls, overtraining, poor posture as well as emotional stress and chemical stress can sometimes cause these spinal segments to misalign from their normal position leading to pressure and/or irritation to the spinal cord or surrounding nerve.

As a result of this reaction, nerve impulses are disrupted and begin to send faulty signaling to the organs being supplied by them. This is referred to as a “vertebral subluxation.” As the organ begins to decline in function, physical symptoms usually begin that the individual can notice. And while medicine is a wonderful discovery, it is often over prescribed and yet only treats the symptoms without looking for the cause of the problem.

Chiropractors are the ONLY health care practitioners that are trained to locate, analyze and correct vertebral subluxations by realigning the spinal segments back into their proper position. This relieves the disruption pattern on the nerve being affected.  Once again, the organ will begin to receive the correct messaging from the brain where it can now transmit itself without interruption. The end result…. the innate self-healing mechanism is allowed to express itself and work to its full capacity once again.
